JABBERWOCKY
soprano, tenor, and piano (about 7 minutes)
Most English-speaking people remember from their childhood reading Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There. Prominent in Through the Looking Glass is the poem, "Jabberwocky," which is known especially for its use of invented words. (Alice commented that "it's rather hard to understand!") These stories and the poem have been an inspiration for composers and movie writers, alike. Jabberwocky (1999) is composed for soprano, tenor, and piano.
