PHANTASMAL DAWN
violin and marimba (about 7 minutes)
Phantasmal Dawn (1998), written for violin and marimba, is a fantasia that contains several episodes on the same musical materials. The scenes flow as if the music exists in a dreamlike state of subconsciousness. The opening is quiet and serene. At the end of the composition, the level of activity increases as if the world is beginning to awaken from its sleep.
Phantasmal Dawn, utilizing six-mallet technique that has been developed and pioneered by Robert Paterson, is written for Robert and Victoria Paterson.
